Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy and Permanent Representative Rokebul Haque delivered a statement on behalf of Bangladesh at the Second Regular Session of the Executive Board of the World Food Programme (WFP) on Monday, said a press release.
In his address to this highest policy-making body of the WFP, the Ambassador emphasised the need for WFP and other international organisations to take robust and effective measures to ensure the supply of food, medicine, and essential humanitarian aid in the Gaza Strip and across Palestine, which have been devastated by Israeli aggression.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the WFP and donor countries for their efforts in providing food assistance to the 1.2 million forcibly displaced Rohingya population residing in Bangladesh.
He urged the continuation of these food assistance programs until the Rohingya are fully repatriated to Myanmar. Furthermore, the Ambassador reiterated Bangladesh’s support for any initiatives undertaken by the WFP in response to urgent humanitarian crises.
