Entertainment Desk:
Popular actor Mosharraf Karim, who returned his National Film Award in 2018, has recently spoke openly about the incident. He was named Best Comedian for his role as Mofizur in the film Komola Rocket, despite the character being one of the film’s central roles. The acclaimed actor has now reflected on the issue in a podcast.
The 102-minute episode, hosted by Rumman Rashid Khan, features the actor sharing many untold stories from his personal and professional life.
During the conversation, Mosharraf Karim revealed how he evolved from KM Mosharraf Hossain to the name by which he is now widely known. Recalling his early days, he said that while he was in school, cultural programmes were held every Thursday from January to April, where he eagerly participated. He also acted professionally for a short time as a child artist in Jatrapala.
The versatile actor also spoke humorously about his limited cooking skills. “I can only fry eggs, poach eggs, and boil eggs,” he joked. “I once tried to learn how to steam eggs by watching YouTube for two days; but now I’ve forgotten that too.”
Reflecting on his passion for acting and the values he carries, Mosharraf Karim said, “An artiste must have a generous heart. When I came to Dhaka and started practicing theatre, my teachers told me that to be an artiste, one must be an honest person. That advice has stayed with me throughout my life.”
He also shared his thoughts on intolerance and negativity on social media. “Many people write things without checking facts or thinking them through. Later, many of those claims are proven wrong. So what is the point of being harsh to yourself or others?” he remarked.
The podcast “Behind the Fame with RRK” is produced by Z I Faisal. The episode will be broadcast tonight at 8:00 pm on Maasranga Television and Radio Dinrat 93.6 FM.
