Anisul stresses quick disposal of default loan cases

  • Update Time : Saturday, September 10, 2022

Staff Correspondent: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq yesterday underlined the need for solving the default loan cases quickly to keep the country’s economy vibrant.

“In the present global situation, we must have to unlock the knot of the default loan-cases and quickly dispose of those aiming to control the increase of default loans,” he said.

He said this while addressing the inaugural function of the “147th Refresher Course” organized for the Joint District and Sessions Judges/Equivalent Judges at The Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) here as the chief guest.

Highlighting the backlog of the cases, Anisul Huq said more than half of the civil cases filed with the country’s courts are related to the land.

Land disputes are also at the root of many criminal cases, he said, adding that millions of litigants have to give attendance in court every day to get justice in these cases.

“This not only wastes their time and money, but also wastes their valuable working-hours,” he added.

He hoped that the judges would take these matters seriously and reduce the sufferings of the people by providing speedy justice.

Responding to a query of the newsmen regarding BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s stay out of jail period, the minister said that it (the stay out of her jail period) would be extended if her family members apply for it.

“If family members of Khaleda Zia do so, the tenure of her conditional release will be extended,” he added.

With JATI Director General Justice Nazmun Ara Sultana in the chair, the programme was attended, among others, by the officials of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and JATI.
