A petition has been lodged to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking to investigate the assets outside the known income of three people, including former Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader.

Supreme Court lawyer Sultan Mahmud made this petition. He confirmed the matter himself on Monday (October 14) afternoon.

In the petition, apart from the former road and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, his two brothers Abdul Quader Mirza and Mahadat Quader Mirza’s acquisition of assets outside the known income was also sought.

On the other hand, lawyer Sultan Mahmud filed a separate petition seeking to file a case as well as the investigation of assets outside the known income of former ACC chairman Dr. Iqbal Mahmud and his 3 brothers.

He has also appealed for the investigation of assets outside the known income of ACC lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajol. A request has been made to investigate these complaints and file a case.

Along with this, Supreme Court lawyer Sultan Mahmud has also appealed for the search of the assets of the former lawmaker of Noakhali-4 Constituency Ekramul Karim Chowdhury.

Noted that Sheikh Hasina left the country and fled to India after resigning in the face of the students-public mass-uprising on August 5. Soon after the fall of the Awami League government, the party’s general secretary Obaidul Quader, and former MP-ministers and activists of the ruling party went into hiding.

Subsequently, several cases were filed in different parts of the country including Dhaka in connection with suppression of the movement and order of killings of students. Apart from Sheikh Hasina, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has been made an accused in these separate cases.
