Arijit Singh to receive Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor

The Indian government has revealed the complete list of Padma award recipients for 2025. The Padma awards, India’s highest civilian honors, are conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.

A standout name is Bollywood’s top musician, Arijit Singh, who is set to receive the Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian honor.

Arijit’s musical journey has been remarkable, with his first brush with fame coming in 2005 when he participated in the reality show ‘Fame Gurukul’ at just 18 years old. Though he didn’t win the show, his talent and mastery of music won him widespread admiration.

Bollywood playback singer Arijit Singh began his music career in Bollywood with Murder 2 in 2011. Since his Bollywood debut, he has sung plenty of famous songs, across multiple languages. Some of his most famous Bollywood songs are Tum Hi Ho, Lutt Putt Gaya, Chaleya, O Sajni Re, Jhoome Jo Pathaan, Kesariya, and many more.

The Padma awards are granted to people who have made remarkable contributions to different fields such as social work, public affairs, sports, education, civil services, art and culture and more.

The Padma Awards have been bestowed on 137 individuals so far on 2025.
