Asian Cricket Council chairman Mohsin Reza Naqvi said Thursday that the dates and venues for the upcoming Asia Cup will be announced soon following the ACC’s annual meeting in Dhaka.

“That will be announced soon,” Naqvi told reporters, adding that discussions with India were ongoing and that pending issues would be resolved quickly. Asked about the UAE as a possible neutral venue, he said, “We will announce it soon.”

Naqvi remained optimistic about the much-anticipated India-Pakistan clash despite recent tensions, calling it an “ACC and BCCI matter” that he hopes will be resolved.

“This meeting was about leadership and cooperation. We all want cricket, not politics,” Naqvi said, describing the AGM in Dhaka as a success.

The BCB hosted the meeting, with president Aminul Islam Bulbul calling it a “successful” gathering to strengthen regional cricket ties.

Eight teams are expected to compete, with the Asia Cup likely from 10 to 28 September.
