Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud has announced the establishment of Bangladesh’s first sports institute.
He made the announcement at a press conference at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Sunday.
Through the establishment of this sports institute, he aims to improve athletes’ performance and create alternative sources of income.
Responding to a question, he said: “This matter is in process, and discussions are ongoing. I do not wish to comment further until a resolution is reached. You will hear the news very soon.”
He said investigations would be conducted into corruption and irregularities within various federations, including the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Bangladesh Football Federation, and actions will be taken against those involved.
