Habiganj Correspondent:

An assistant presiding officer has died on duty at a polling center of Habiganj Upazila Parishad. The deceased was identified as Md. Emdadul Haq, Deputy Assistant Engineer of Habiganj LGED.

He was appointed as the assistant presiding officer of Umednagar Municipal High School Center in the city.

Faridul Islam, executive engineer of Habiganj LGED confirmed Emdadul Haq’s death. He said, Md. Emdadul Haque was on duty in the Habiganj Sadar Upazila Parishad polls. Around 9:30 in the morning, he suddenly felt a pain in his chest. He was immediately taken to Sadar Modern Hospital where the doctor declared him dead.

Assistant Returning Officer (UNO) Sadar Ranjan Chandra Dey said that he was taken to the hospital when he fell ill during the voting. There the doctor confirmed his death.
