A new chapter in Bangladesh’s music scene was written with the country’s first-ever technology-driven concert. Featuring state-of-the-art lighting and 3D visuals, this groundbreaking event took place at Aloki Auditorium in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Friday night (February 28). Headlining the high-tech stage was none other than the iconic rock band Aurthohin.
Aurthohin’s frontman and bassist, Bassbaba Sumon, along with other band members, mesmerized the audience with their electrifying performance. Cutting-edge technology transformed the stage into a visual spectacle, blending synchronized laser shows and AI-generated digital effects. Fans passionately sang along to the band’s greatest hits while giant digital screens showcased memorable moments from Aurthohin’s legendary journey. This fusion of music and technology captivated the crowd, setting a new standard for live concerts in Bangladesh.
Keeping pace with the technology-driven future, Aurthohin hosted a unique solo concert inspired by the video game “Cyberpunk 2077.” Titled “Aurthohin 2077: A Cyberpunk Odyssey,” the four-hour-long futuristic concert aimed to offer audiences a one-of-a-kind musical experience by blending music with cyberpunk aesthetics.
The concert began with Artcell’s immensely popular song “Amar Protichchhobi.” The band then went on to perform nearly 20 songs in three segments. Some of the notable performances included “Krishnachura,” “Asomapto,” “Epitaph,” “Bijoyer Gaan,” “Guti,” and “Bidrohi.” Additionally, they covered John Denver’s famous song “Annie’s Song.”
One of the most emotional moments of the concert was when the band’s vocalist and bassist, Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon (popularly known as Bassbaba Sumon), dedicated the final segment to the legendary rock icon of Bangladesh, Azam Khan, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. He performed “Adbhut Shei Cheleti,” and during this segment, thousands of audience members stood in silence to pay their respects to the legendary musician. Sumon expressed, “Azam Khan is a revolution that runs through our veins. His music was a language of resistance and love. We continue to walk the path he paved for us.”
The concert was jointly organized by Get Set Rock and ASSEN Buzz, with Cool Exposure Communication serving as the official PR partner. The AI-generated visuals and effects for the event were created by Verse Imagine. Sponsors for the concert included Twelve Clothing, Infinix, Revo, Polar, Nescafé, Pathao, Catering Palmera, Heavy Metal T-Shirt, RX Exposure, The Mad Team, Hip Creator, and Codixel.
According to Rajib Rahman Sohan, CEO, from Get Set Rock, the concept of the solo concert was directly inspired by the futuristic elements of Cyberpunk 2077. He stated that advanced technology made it possible to visualize an imaginative future, blending music and AI-driven elements to create an immersive cyberpunk atmosphere. Although Sumon’s vocals were natural, artificial intelligence was used to enhance the emotional depth, making audiences feel as though they had stepped into a cyberpunk world. AI-generated visuals, including futuristic cityscapes and intricate garage designs, added to the overall experience.
The organizers believe this concert was not just a musical performance but a groundbreaking fusion of music and technology. They also declared it a commercial success.
The band’s manager, Ehsanul Huq Tito, told this reporter that Aurthohin’s legendary bassist and vocalist, Saidus Salehin Khaled Sumon, performed not only his iconic hits but also new, unreleased songs. Additionally, premium ticket holders enjoyed an exclusive opportunity to meet the band, take selfies, and receive Sumon’s autograph as a bonus.
Despite Sumon’s long battle with cancer, spinal injuries from a car accident, and complications with his eyesight, Aurthohin has made a remarkable comeback. After nearly a year-long hiatus, they returned last year with their “Legends of the Decade” concert. In addition to their live performances, the band is currently working on their highly anticipated album, “Phoenix’s Diary 2.”
Meanwhile, Get Set Rock, the country’s first musical online ticketing platform, continues to facilitate online ticket sales for various concerts and events across Bangladesh.
According to Rajib Rahman Sohan, CEO from Get Set Rock, after achieving success in the local market, the platform is now preparing to expand its services internationally.
He further added that the platform’s goal extends beyond ticket sales—it aims to be an integrated hub for music lovers, providing detailed information about concerts, artists, and music events. Additionally, it is creating new opportunities for event organizers, allowing them to efficiently manage ticketing systems and enhance the concert experience for audiences.
Notably, ASSEN has been organizing various concerts to promote local music artists. Several events are scheduled for this year, offering a platform for both established and emerging bands to showcase their talent.
With this groundbreaking concert, Aurthohin has not only set a new benchmark for live music experiences in Bangladesh but has also proven that they remain at the forefront of the country’s evolving rock scene.
