Several top positions in the Bangladesh Army have been reshuffled, including the appointments of a new Chief of General Staff (CGS) and a new head of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI).

Lieutenant General Mainur Rahman has been appointed as the new Chief of General Staff (CGS). Prior to this new assignment, he served as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC).

In another significant change, the current Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division, Lieutenant General SM Kamrul Hassan, has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for appointment as an ambassador.

To fill this vacancy, Major General Mir Mushfiqur Rahman has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed as the new PSO. He previously served as the GOC of the 24th Infantry Division.

The leadership of the DGFI has also seen a transition. The outgoing chief, Major General Jahangir, has been transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an Ambassadorial appointment.

He is succeeded by Brigadier General Kaiser Rashid Chowdhury, formerly of Army Headquarters, who has been promoted to the rank of Major General to take over as the new head of the DGFI.

These transfer and promotion orders were issued by Army Headquarters on Sunday afternoon, according to sources within the Ministry of Defence.
