Bangladesh end first session in despair

Bangladesh ended the first session of the second and last Test against Sri Lanka in Chattogram following a catch miss and run-out miss. Sri Lanka opener Maduska-Karunaratne advanced the team’s total with that opportunity.

Sri Lanka have collected 88/0 in 27 overs till the Lunch at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram. Maduska on 55 and Karunaratne 33 are in the batting.

Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva won the toss and decided to bat. Nishan Maduska and Dimuth Karunaratne opened the innings for the team. Maduska got life at the beginning of the innings.

In the sixth over, debutant Hasan Mahmud’s length delivery outside the off stump hit the edge of Maduska’s bat and went for an easy catch at second slip but Joy could not collect it. Maduska survived on 9 runs.

Then in the 16th over, Maduska played Khaled’s first ball gently towards point and ran for a run. Karunaratne responded initially. In the middle, he can understand that the danger is imminent. So he changed his dicission. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz could not break the stump despite catching the ball with great fielding. As a result, Karunaratne survived for 18 runs.

Later Maduska gradually increased the run rate and touched the second half-century of his Test career. Another opener Karunaratne is also on his way to fifty.
