Actor Manowar Hossain Dipjol has got back the post of General Secretary of Bangladesh Film Artistes’ Association. Chamber court judge Justice M Enayetur Rahim passed the order on Monday. As a result, Dipjol is not restricted from performing his duties as general secretary of the organisation.

Dipjol on Sunday applied to the chamber court seeking the return of the post of general secretary   of the Bangladesh Film Artists Association (2024-26).

Earlier on 20 May, the High Court suspended the post of general secretary. The court also ordered the registration authority, and social welfare ministry to conduct an inquiry into the allegations of irregularities and vote rigging in the election held on 19 April.

The High Court bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque passed the order after defeated secretary Nipun filed a writ petition on 15 May with the HC seeking cancellation of the 2024-26 election of the BFAA on charges of irregularities and vote rigging.

The bi-annual election of the Bangladesh Film Artistes Association was held on 19 April. Misha Sawdagar was elected as the president while Monowar Hossain Dipjol secured the position of general secretary at the polls.
