Sports Desk:
Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team is set to begin their campaign in the 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship by facing defending champions India on March 6.
The draw for the seven-team tournament took place on Tuesday in Pardis, Tehran, Iran, placing Bangladesh in Group A alongside India, Thailand, and Malaysia.
Group B consists of reigning runners-up Iran, along with Nepal and Iraq.
Bangladesh’s placement in Group A is seen as a relatively easier path to the semifinals, securing at least a bronze medal—an achievement Bangladesh first attained in the tournament’s inaugural edition in 2005.
Following their opening match against India, Bangladesh will take on Malaysia in the afternoon session of the same day. Their final group-stage match will be against a formidable Thailand team on March 7.
Both semifinals are scheduled for March 7, with the final taking place on March 8.
