Bangladesh has been ranked as a “role model” in the global cyber security index. Bangladesh is one of the countries with the highest score in cyber security in an index of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
ITU on Thursday (September 12) released the ‘Global Cyber Security Index 2024’. They published this report this year after 2020.
Before this, Bangladesh got a score of 81.27 in 2020.
The ITU report is based on 2023-2024 data from 194 countries. Among these countries, those who scored “95 to 100 marks are called role models”. The number of such countries is 46. The list includes neighboring India and Pakistan along with Bangladesh.
ITU has formed a cyber security index based on 5 main topics. These include legal measures, technical aspects, institutional aspects, capacity building, and coordination.
Among them, Bangladesh received the highest score of 20 in technical measures, institutional measures and coordination. Among the remaining two, the country scored 19.52 on capacity building and 17.44 on legal action – securing a total of 96.96 scores in the cyber security index. Source: ITU
