Bangladesh moved up in the FIFA men’s football rankings after beating India in a home match during the Asian Cup qualifiers. The win added 17 points to their previous total of 894 points. With 911 points now, Bangladesh rose from 183rd place to 180th place. Hamza and Jamal’s team celebrated the rise in their ranking.

In May 2016, Bangladesh was ranked 178th. The ranking then dropped to 181 in June and fell further to 197 at one point. Over the last few years, Bangladesh mostly stayed between 183 and 187. Now, after nine years, the team has reached the 180th position.

India was 47 places ahead of Bangladesh before the match. Losing to Bangladesh caused India to drop six spots in the ranking, moving from 136th to 142nd place.

Bangladesh also played a friendly match against Nepal during the November international window. The match ended in a draw. FIFA’s official website does not show the result of this friendly match. Nepal’s ranking fell from 180th to 182nd after the match.

Bangladesh’s rise in the rankings shows improvement and gives hope for the future. The team will look to continue this progress in upcoming matches.
