Bangladesh U-17 continued their dominant run in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers with a commanding 8–0 victory over Brunei Darussalam in their second Group A match on Monday in Chongqing, China. The win keeps the Young Red and Greens firmly on top of the group as they push toward qualification.
Bangladesh showed their intent early, controlling possession and applying constant pressure. The breakthrough came in the 13th minute, when Faysal sent a smart pass from the left to Opu, who confidently slotted home the opener.
In the 23rd minute, Rifat Kazi doubled the lead with a brilliant solo effort, dribbling past two defenders before finishing with finesse. Bangladesh tightened their grip soon after, with Faysal scoring the third goal in the 36th minute following a superb assist from Riduan.
Just a minute later, in the 37th, Manik made it 4–0 with a stunning long-range strike that left the Brunei goalkeeper rooted to the spot.
Bangladesh resumed their onslaught in the second half. Opu added his second and the team’s fifth in the 49th minute, again benefiting from Riduan’s excellent distribution.
The sixth goal came in the 73rd minute, when Faysal’s long-range attempt was parried by the Brunei goalkeeper, only for Rifat to pounce on the rebound and secure his brace.
Substitute Arif made an instant impact, scoring Bangladesh’s seventh goal in the 75th minute after reacting quickest inside a crowded penalty area.
The rout was completed in the 79th minute, with Bayzit finding space, striking cleanly, and sealing the impressive 8–0 win.
Bangladesh dominated the match from start to finish, creating numerous chances and even striking the goalpost multiple times. The players maintained high intensity throughout and showcased excellent teamwork and finishing.
With back-to-back wins and a combined 13 goals scored across two matches, Bangladesh U-17 now shift focus to their remaining fixtures as they aim to finish atop Group A and move closer to the final tournament.
