Sports Desk:
The SAFF U-20 Women’s Championship match between Bangladesh and Bhutan, initially played at Bashundhara Kings Arena, was halted midway on Tuesday due to heavy rain rendering the pitch unplayable.
The game began at 3:00 PM BST, with Bangladesh taking an early 1-0 lead in the 7th minute thanks to Shanti Mardi’s goal amid challenging slippery conditions.
Play was stopped at 4:00 PM after officials deemed the field unsafe.
Following a lengthy delay and no improvement in pitch conditions, the match was restarted at 6:45 PM BST — but this time at the BK Training Ground.
If memory and deep internet search serve right, this is one of the very first times that a single football match has been played across two different venues on the same day due to rain.
