Bangladeshi injured in BSF shooting at C’nawabganj

A Bangladeshi was injured by gunfire from the Indian Border Security Force (BSF).

The injured is Habil, 30, from the Telkupi border area of Shibganj in Chapainawabganj.

The incident occurred at the Telkupi border of Shahbazpur Union in the upazila at around 3:30am on Saturday.

He has been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for treatment.

The injured Habil is the son of Belal from Mollatola village in Shahbazpur Union.

Kawsar Hasan, in charge of the emergency department at Chapainawabganj Sadar Hospital, confirmed the matter.

He said that the injured individual arrived at the hospital around 7am on Saturday. After providing initial treatment, he was referred to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

He further mentioned that a bullet had struck part of Habil’s chest.

Lieutenant Colonel Golam Kibria, commander of the 59 BGB Battalion, said:  “At around 3:30am, six to seven drug smugglers entered Indian territory. During this time, gunshots were heard.”
