The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Monday dismissed claims that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has set a deadline for a decision on Bangladesh’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup.

BCB Media and Communications Director and Chairman Amzad Hussain said discussions with the ICC are still ongoing and no timeline has been communicated.

“On 17 January, an ICC representative came. A meeting was held with a delegation from our Cricket Board,” Amzad said.

He explained that the BCB clearly conveyed its position on venue concerns and formally sought an alternative.

“We informed them that we are unable to play at the proposed venue and requested an alternative venue,” he said.

According to Amzad, the ICC representative assured the board that the matter would be placed before the ICC.

“They did not mention any specific date or timeframe,” he added, stressing that the BCB has not been given any deadline and is awaiting formal communication from the ICC.
