Police have arrested Chhatra League leader Masud Ali alias Kala Masud in connection with five murder cases related to the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in at Uttara area in the capital.

Arrested Masud Ali, 25, was vice-president of Uttara Ward No. 1.

Mohammad Talebur Rahman, deputy commissioner of DMP’s media and public relations branch, confirmed that Masud was arrested early Sunday at Ahalia area at the banks of Turag River.

According to the deputy commissioner, Masud is accused in five murder cases filed with Uttara West Police Station, including the murder of Alamgir Hossain during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.

The arrest was made following an investigation that included intelligence analysis and CCTV footage from the crime scenes.
