The total number of registered voters in Bangladesh has risen to 12.63 crore, following the latest update from the Election Commission.
The new voter list includes 12,63,07,504 eligible voters as of 31 August 2025.
The update was announced by Senior Secretary of the Election Commission Akhtar Ahmed during a press conference held at Nirbachan Bhaban in Dhaka on Sunday.
According to the revised figures, 1,37,642 new voters have been added to the list, reflecting the inclusion of newly eligible citizens, while 1,038 names have been removed due to death.
The updated voter registry shows a near-equal gender distribution: 60,641,455 male voters and 65,664,819 female voters.
This indicates that women now constitute a slight majority of the electorate, a trend consistent with recent voter list updates and reflective of higher female voter registration and retention.
Additionally, 1,230 transgender individuals are officially registered as voters, marking continued progress in inclusivity and recognition of third-gender rights in the electoral process.
The updated voter list will serve as the foundation for electoral planning, constituency delimitation, and voter education campaigns in the lead-up to the polls.
With the electorate now surpassing 12.63 core, Bangladesh stands on the cusp of one of its most significant democratic exercises in history, one shaped by a growing, increasingly empowered, and diverse voting population.
