A total of 650 small and marginal farmers in Belkuchi Upazila of Sirajganj have received free seeds and fertilizer to boost the cultivation and production of sesame, jute, and Aush paddy during the current farming season.
The distribution programme was inaugurated on Sunday morning at the Upzila Training Centre by the Member of Parliament for Sirajganj-5, Amirul Islam Khan Alim.
The event was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Afrin Jahan.
Among others present at the were Upazila Agriculture Officer Sukanta Dhar, former General Secretary of Upazila BNP Abdur Razzak Mondol, District BNP member Golam Azam, former convener of Upazila BNP Nurul Islam Golam, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Boni Amin, former convener of Municipal BNP Altaf Hossain Pramanik, former joint convener of Municipal BNP Shafiqul Islam Shafi, General Secretary of Belkuchi Press Club Rezaul Karim, former Municipal BNP member Monowar Hossain Shamim, former president of Upazila Jubo Dal Helal Uddin, convener of Jubo Dal Shamim Sarkar, Member Secretary Alam Pramanik, and others.
The initiative aims to support local farmers and enhance agricultural production in the area during the ongoing season.
