Back on 14 June, during a press conference held at the BFF House, Shaheen openly demanded Cabrera’s resignation — a rare and forthright statement in the typically guarded football administration sphere.
Just weeks after publicly calling for the resignation of Bangladesh national football team head coach Javier Cabrera, Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Executive Committee member Shakhawat Hossain Bhuiyan Shaheen has been relieved of his duties on the National Teams Committee.
Shaheen confirmed to Bangla Tribune that he received an official letter today, signed by BFF Vice President and National Teams Committee Chairman Tabith Awal, notifying him of his removal. The letter did not cite any specific reason for the decision but stated that Shaheen would continue to serve as an Executive Committee member, remaining involved in football development despite being released from his national team-related responsibilities.
Commenting on the matter, Shaheen said,
“I have received the letter signed by the chairman today. I have been relieved of my duties. But it is not a problem for me — I am still part of the executive committee. That said, I continue to believe that, for the good of Bangladesh football, Javier Cabrera should step down. Many others share this view as well.”
Back on 14 June, during a press conference held at the BFF House, Shaheen openly demanded Cabrera’s resignation — a rare and forthright statement in the typically guarded football administration sphere. Notably, while two other executive committee members had previously made contentious remarks, no disciplinary action was taken against them. As it stands, Shaheen remains the only official to face consequences over such comments.
