The border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Moheshpur frontier in Jhenaidah seized 15 gold bars worth over Tk 2.5 crore on Tuesday evening.

BGB 58 battalion assistant director Munshi Imdadur Rahman confirmed the matter to the media at the night of Tuesday.

The BGB sources said, the BGB personnel were patrolling the bordering area of Palianpur area about two kilometres inside the border pillar number 60/12 R. When the BGB personnel challenged him, he left the scene leaving a bundle. The bundle wrapped by scotch tape was filled with 15 gold bars weighting 1.815 grams worth over Tk 2.5 crore.

BGB assistant director Munshi Imdadur Rahman said the seized gold bars have been handed over to Jhenaidah district treasury.
