136 smugglers also arrested

The Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) seized precious metals, narcotics as well as arms worth Tk172.95 crore during anti-smuggling drives across the country in June.
The paramilitary force seized 3.891-kg gold, 16.20-kg silver, 1,68,030 pieces of cosmetic items, 3,501 pieces of imitation jewellery, 17,518 pieces of sarees, 12,444 pieces three-piece/shirt-piece/bed-sheet/blankets, eleven trucks, eight pick-up vans, six private and microbuses, one covered van, one bus, three tractors, 31 CNG/human haulers, 43 motorbikes as well as other goods, said a BGB media release signed by the force’s Public Relations Officer Md Shariful Islam on Wednesday.
In June, the BGB personnel arrested 136 smugglers as well as 156 Bangladeshis, 306 Myanmar people and 4 Indians for crossing border illegally.
