BNP remains confident that the chief adviser of the interim government can oversee a free and fair national election, despite concerns over the conduct of several advisers, party’Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said on Monday.
Addressing a demonstration in front of the National Press Club, Rizvi voiced strong support for the ongoing movement by non-MPO teachers seeking inclusion in the Monthly Pay Order (MPO) scheme.
He described their demands as “fully justified” and pledged the party’s solidarity with their movement.
Rizvi also criticised the interim government, alleging that its treatment of teachers, particularly those struggling financially, indicates a failure to recognise them as equal citizens.
The protest by non-MPO teachers has continued for 23 consecutive days.
Under the banner of the ‘Combined Non-MPO Unity Council’, teachers from nearly 4,000 institutions nationwide have been participating in demonstrations and hunger strikes to press for MPO enlistment.
