Staff Correspondent:
The BNP has lodged a complaint of enforced disappearances against 16 individuals, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, former law minister Anisul Huq, and former inspector general of police Benazir Ahmed, at the International Crimes Tribunal.
Salahuddin Khan, an executive member of the BNP central committee and coordinator of the party’s information cell, submitted the complaint on Sunday to the chief prosecutor on behalf of the victims.
Chief Prosecutor Muhammad Tajul Islam assured them that proper legal action would be taken after an investigation.
The complaint alleges the involvement of Hasina and 15 others, who held top positions in the erstwhile government, in 11 incidents of enforced disappearance that occurred from 2019 until the fall of the administration.
According to the victims, they were subjected to brutal persecution during that government’s tenure solely because of their affiliation with the BNP.
