The BNP on Monday held meetings with three more like-minded political parties to consolidate the unity that has developed among themselves.
The meetings took place at the BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in the capital.
The first meeting was held with the Democratic Left Alliance, led by the coalition coordinator Haroon Al Rashid Khan. The BNP later sat with the People’s Rights Council led by Mia Moshiuzzaman and finally the National Movement Democratic-NDM led by Bobby Hajjaj.
BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khoshru Mahmud Chowdhury and Vice-Chairman Barkat Ullah Bulu were present in the meetings.
After the talks, Amir Khoshru told reporters, “Tuesday, the people we met with are friends of our movement, we all have many sacrifices, we have gone to jail, we have all been tortured. We have continued that communication.
“After the country became independent for the second time, we started the talks among ourselves again. Here, we discussed the dream of Bangladesh. Since Sheikh Hasina’s escape, the new thoughts, aspirations, and expectations that have been created in the minds of the people of Bangladesh, we discussed what the parties of the joint movement will do to build a new Bangladesh in future,” he added.
The BNP leader said since there is an interim government, people have confidence in it. “We also have confidence and support. We are hopeful that this government will be supportive in fulfilling the aspirations of the people.”
The BNP held a meeting with Gono Forum, Bangladesh People’s Party, and NAP Bhasani on 6 September.
The party will hold a meeting with Gono Odhikar Parishad led by Nurul Haque Nur on 11 September.
