BNP standing committee member and former state minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said, “The power of people is the greatest power. BNP is now stronger than earlier by the power of people. So, no conspiracy will be able to eliminate BNP. BNP was earlier, is now existing and it will be in the future.”

He came up with the remarks, while addressing as the chief guest at a meeting organized by the district BNP conference preparation committee at the Bhashani auditorium in Sirajganj town on Saturday (March 15) afternoon.

Quoting BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, he also said, “The workers of BNP, who have been remained at the forefront of the movement and struggle for 17 years should be evaluated first, and those who did not make sacrifices should be thought of later. Just as many people pretended to be fake freedom fighters after 1971, many fake revolutionaries are appearing after the mass uprising of 24. We should be careful about them.”

Pointing to the interim government, BNP Chairperson’s advisor freedom fighter Abdus Salam said, “The incumbent interim government has not yet been able to take a single case filed against the fascist Sheikh Hasina to court. Even passing of about seven months after forming interim government, no reform has effective. So, I want to say, it is not your job, it is the duty of politicians to make reforms. Please, do not make any excuses in the name of reforms, hold elections soon and hand over power to the elected government and leave with honor.”

The meeting, chaired by Amirul Islam Khan Alim, joint organizing secretary of BNP Rajshahi divisional committee and convener of district BNP conference preparation committee, was addressed by district BNP president and former MP Rumana Mahmud, general secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, joint general secretary VP Shamim Khan and organizing secretary Abu Said Sweet among others. BNP representatives from 18 organizational units of the district participated in the meeting.
