Marking the 47th founding anniversary of BNP, Ishwardi Upazila and Municipal BNP jointly brought out a colorful procession from the town’s Nazim Uddin High School grounds and paraded through the main roads on Monday last.

After the parade, led by former Municipal BNP General Secretary Zakaria, the leaders and activists reached to the Ishwardi Central Bus Terminal and joined in a rally.

Former Municipal BNP Joint Secretary and incumbent General Secretary of Ishwardi Press Club SM Fazlur Rahman presided over the event, while former Municipal BNP General Secretary Zakaria Pintu and former Upazila BNP President Shamsuddin Ahmed Malitha spoke on the occasion. The speakers said that, on September 1, 1978, martyred President Ziaur Rahman, known as the Bengali Rakhal Raja, founded the Bangladesh Nationalist Party BNP with his own hands. Since then, the leaders and activists of this party have been working for the development of the country till date.
