The National Citizen Party (NCP) has alleged that BNP’s central leadership has lost control over its local units, leading to political instability and unrest across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NCP condemned the frequent internal clashes within BNP and its affiliated organizations, as well as attacks on political activists from other parties.
The statement highlighted a violent incident on March 30 in Ramganj, Lakshmipur, where a clash between local factions of Chhatra Dal and Swechhasebak Dal resulted in an attack on Azizur Rahman Bacchu Mollah, the father of NCP Central Joint Convenor Mahbub Alam Mahir.
The attack left Bacchu Mollah with a fractured hand and severe injuries.
Similarly, on March 24 in Hatia, Noakhali, BNP activists reportedly assaulted NCP Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud during a public meeting and outreach event.
The statement also accused BNP leaders and activists of regularly issuing threats and intimidation against NCP activists in various regions.
While BNP’s central leadership has publicly condemned such attacks and expelled some involved members, the NCP claims that violence continues unabated.
The party called on BNP to take effective action against criminal activities, extortionists, and those involved in violent takeovers.
