BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Zainul Abedin Farroque has called on Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus to hold elections without delay, urging him to announce a date for polls.
Farroque made the call on Tuesday at a memorial event marking the 14th death anniversary of former BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain at the National Press Club.
Addressing Yunus, Farroque said: “You have yourself called Hasina a fascist. But to stop a fascist, unity is essential. You have said that seeing all parties together gives you courage while being alone makes you feel discouraged. There is no reason for that.
“Everyone except the Awami League is with you. Conduct an election with a firm hand now—there is no need for further delay.”
Farroque emphasized the urgency of announcing an election date, saying: “How many more times must we ask Dr Yunus to hold elections? There will be new parties, but that is not our concern. He is a globally respected figure and should not hesitate. He must announce a clear election date without delay.
