The bodies of two more schoolboys who went missing on Saturday afternoon were recovered from the Fuljor River in Sirajganj’s Kamarkhand Upazila on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Krishna Niyogi, 15, son of late Bishwajit Niyogi of Bahirgola Ghoshpara in Sirajganj town, and Sarjil, 15, son of Professor Imrul Hasan Sohel of Masumpur of the town.
With these, bodies of three teenagers were recovered from the river, all were ninth grader of Sirajganj Collectorate School and College.
Members of the Fire Service diving team from Rajshahi conducted a four-hour operation at Jhatibelai and recovered the bodies around 12:45 pm.
Earlier, at around 6 pm on Saturday, the fire service and locals recovered the body of 16-year-old Rafim, son of Razzak from Jhantibelai village.
Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Kamarkhanda Police Station, said five friends from Sirajganj town visited their friend Rafim’s house on Friday afternoon.
On Saturday afternoon, six students went to bathe in the Fuljor River and three of them drowned while swimming.
Rafim’s body was recovered around 6 pm.
The rescue efforts were suspended for the night, and a diving team from Rajshahi was informed.
The bodies of the deceased were later handed over to their respective families, the OC said.
