Security across the Indian capital was thrown into high alert on Friday after a series of bomb threats targeted several high-profile installations, including the Delhi High Court and Indira Gandhi International Airport, just ahead of the nation’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.

The alarm was raised following a threat email sent under the handle ‘Khalistan’, which claimed that coordinated explosions were planned across strategic locations in New Delhi.

Timed Explosions Threatened

The email, carrying the subject line “Blast Delhi High Court @2:11 PM,” warned that an explosion would target the High Court at 2:11 PM on Saturday, with secondary blasts scheduled across various district courts an hour later.

In the message, the senders made anti-government assertions, claiming that “Delhi courts exclusively target Sikhs,” while boasting that operatives from the separatist outfit were already embedded within the capital.

Critical Infrastructure Targeted

Beyond the High Court and Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, the threat explicitly named six other prominent administrative locations:

Jamnagar House

Jhandewalan Building

Saket Administrative Complex

Office of the District Magistrate (DM)

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Office in Delhi Cantonment

The message also warned of potential sabotage targeting the Delhi Metro network and Ambala-bound passenger trains.

Rapid Emergency Response

Following the threat, bomb disposal units, sniffer dog squads, and fire tenders were rushed to all specified locations. Multi-agency security teams conducted extensive sweeps of the premises, creating strict security perimeters.

Senior police officials confirmed that initial searches revealed no suspicious items or explosive materials. However, with Independence Day security protocols already in effect across the national capital, counter-terrorism units and local law enforcement remain on maximum surveillance.
