West Indian pace bowler Jayden Seales said that he tried to bowl in good areas and that proved dividends for him against Bangladesh on the second day of the second Test at Jamaica.
Seales, who recorded the most economical four-for in Test cricket since 1977 (minimum 60 balls), registered 15.5-10-5-4 as West Indies bowled out Bangladesh for 164 on the second day of the second Test at Sabina Park.
“I tried to bowl in good areas and tried to build pressure for the other bowlers so that they could express themselves and do their job as well. And it paid off in the end today, I’m very pleased (with the performance),” Seales said after the second day’s play.
“The pitches are slow but as I’ve always said that I love playing in Jamaica mainly because there are a lot for the bowlers throughout the entire day. And today it showed. It was good for us the entire day today,” he said.
“I guess, I tend to find a good rhythm (here in Jamaica). I just enjoy playing here because the crowd actually comes out which is surprising in Caribbean cricket. Having the little crowd pushing us gives us energy. But, nah, apart from the wicket, I don’t know (what’s special about Jamaica), it just tends to happen,” he added.
“Any day in cricket, you want to get wickets as early as possible. Yesterday it had better moisture because of the rain. Obviously pushing to get early wickets was something that we talked about yesterday. It didn’t happen the way we wanted, but we came back out today strongly,” he said.
“I tend to use my skills a lot here, I would say. And try to set up the batters make them feel I will bowl my stock delivery, when I’m not going to bowl it,” Seales said after the game.
Seales added that he feels their batting unit will do the job for them, who ended the day on 70-1 when bad light forced early stumps for the second successive day.
“I have no doubt the batters will get the job done. They are in good touch, each and every one of them. I believe that they will put their hands up and get us the lead that we so desire,” he concluded.
