The Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) has proposed halving the application fee for the BCS exam. On Monday, the proposal was sent to the Ministry of Public Administration.
A ministry official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, confirmed the matter.
The proposal suggests that the application fee of Tk 700 be reduced by half to Tk 350. There has been ongoing discussion and criticism regarding the BCS application fee. After the announcement of the 47th BCS last Thursday, many job seekers have criticised the Tk 700 fee, with many questioning the amount.
In response to the criticism, the PSC announced a reduction in the application fee.
Earlier, in line with the promises made during the Students Against Discrimination Movement, the PSC had announced plans to reduce the application fee for the 47th BCS exam. The commission now sent a proposal to the Ministry of Public Administration in this regard. There is no application fee for applying to government banks.
