Brahmanbaria polling officer dies during election duty

A polling officer supervising voting in Brahmanbaria-2 constituency died this morning after falling ill at his assigned centre, election and hospital officials said.

Mujahidul Islam Habib, 48, was stationed at Sarail Zila Parishad Auditorium when he became unwell. He was rushed to Sarail Upazila Health Complex, where physicians pronounced him dead on arrival, according to duty doctor Shyamal Ranjan Debnath.

Habib, son of Golam Maola, was a resident of Haluapara village in Sarail upazila. He taught at Panishor Islamic Foundation.

Dr Debnath said preliminary information suggests the polling officer suffered a cardiac arrest.
