The authorities on Friday revoked the service termination order against Brigadier General Abdullahil Amaan Azmi, also the son of Jamaat’s former chief Professor Ghulam Azam, and approved payment of outstanding dues to the army officer.
An ISPR press release said Amaan Azmi would get his salaries and other service-related benefits pending since 24 June 2009.
After assuming power in 2009, the Awami League government sacked Amaan Azmi potentially due to his affiliations with an opposition party.
In 2016, he was abducted by law enforcement agencies.
On 6 August 2024, following the fall of the Awami League regime, he was released from the regime’s notorious secret detention centre named Aynaghar. Unidentified masked men dropped him off from a van at Ghatail area in Tangail. From there he went to his family.
