Amid the prevailing tension in the bordering area, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has launched a 10-day OPS Alert exercise along the Bangladesh-India border to ensure heightened security marking the country’s Republic Day celebration.
The authorities concerned have asked the BSF to continue the OPS Alert exercise on India’s northeast and west Bengal borders until 31 January, reports ANI, an Indian news agency that offers syndicated multimedia news feeds to news bureaus in the country.
According to an official notification issued by BSF, the steps have been taken on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day of India in the context of the current changing situation in Bangladesh.
India is set to celebrate the 76th Republic Day 2025 on 26 January. On this day in 1950, the country became a sovereign democratic republic with the implementation of the constitution.
The BSF began the OPS Alert exercise along 4,096 kilometres along the Bangladesh-India border to mark the day in a peaceful manner.
India has unleashed the BSF in a bid to strengthen the border security and border posts between the two countries.
The BSF patrol will also be beefed up in and around the area during the 10-day programme to make the effort successful, according to the Indian media.
