The extended section of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) at the entrance of Hare Road in the capital has been renamed the “Shaheed Abu Sayed International Convention Centre.”

Previously, this section was called the “Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Centre,” a name assigned during a syndicate meeting in 2021.

However, the current syndicate has annulled the previous name and approved the new one.

This decision was announced through an official order signed by BSMMU Registrar Professor Dr Md Nazrul Islam on Tuesday.

According to the order, the decision to name the medical convention centre “Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Convention Centre,” as per Resolution-10 of the 82nd syndicate meeting held on June 24, 2021, has been canceled.

Additionally, the decision to name the university’s doctors’ hall “Sheikh Russel International Doctors’ Hall,” as per Resolution-14 of the 89th syndicate meeting held on December 17, 2022, has also been revoked.
