BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized that businessmen are currently dealing with several difficulties.
The BNP Secretary General remarked, “There is currently an interim government in the country. As there is no ruling government, our businessman brothers who usually come forward for projects like mosque construction are facing numerous problems.”
He said these while virtually joining the official inauguration of the reconstruction work of the historic Kachari Jame Masjid (Jame Mosque) in Thakurgaon town at around 10:30 AM on Tuesday.
Acknowledging that raising funds for the mosque’s reconstruction will be a considerable challenge, Mirza Fakhrul expressed, “The current situation makes this task difficult, but I have faith that since this is the work of the House of Allah, with Allah’s help we will be able to complete it.”
He added, “This mosque holds memories from my childhood. When I was a student at Thakurgaon High School, we students used to line up and participate in the mosque’s construction work. We carried bricks, made sacks. I still remember those memories. On Tuesday I have been given the responsibility for this work although I feel it would have been more appropriate for a respected religious scholar to inaugurate it. Still, I consider it a matter of great honor that you have entrusted me with this responsibility.”
Mirza Fakhrul said, “We will all try together to complete the reconstruction of this mosque. It will require a lot of effort in terms of fundraising and other aspects. Although the economic condition of the country is not very good, I believe with the genuine efforts of the people, this project can be completed. I encourage everyone to contribute, whether through financial support or offering advice and guidance, to take part in this noble act of worship.
Present at the mosque premises during the event were Advocate Mirza Rafiqul Islam, President of the mosque committee; General Secretary Anisul Haque Chowdhury; Reconstruction Committee Convenor Dr. Abu Khairul Kabir; Thakurgaon District BNP General Secretary Mirza Faisal Amin; prominent businessman Modasser Hossain, among others.
