Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has expressed profound shock and sadness at the passing of Civil Aviation and Tourism Adviser AF Hassan Ariff, who died of a suspected heart attack on Friday.
The chief adviser received the news of Hassan Ariff’s death immediately upon landing in Dhaka from Dubai late Friday afternoon.
“I am deeply shocked by his sudden demise. Adviser Hassan Ariff was a distinguished lawyer who played a pivotal role in the interim government,” the chief adviser said in a condolence message.
He also paid high tribute to Hassan Ariff’s decades-long public service, highlighting his contributions as a former adviser to a caretaker government and a former attorney general of the country.
“He will be remembered as a brilliant lawyer, a champion of legal activism, and a defender of the human rights of dissidents, dissenting voices, and marginalized members of society.”
The chief adviser extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
He rushed to Labaid Hospital in Dhanmondi from the airport to pay his final respects to the late adviser of the interim government.
