TDS Desk:
Russell’s Viper is now a name of fear for people in different parts of the country. The snake also known as Chandrabora is a deadly venomous snake. The Forest Department urged to be careful not to see the snake as a threat.
The rescuer and president of the team Md. Raju Ahmed, on the other hand, urged to inform ‘Snake Rescue Team Bangladesh’ without panic if anyone spotted Russell’s Viper snake.
Many are sharing such messages on social media including Facebook on Friday (June 21). Referring to the phone no. 01780932717, it is said that if you see a Russell’s Viper snake, inform the snake rescue team and they will rescue you free of charge.
Md. Raju Ahmed told the media that the snake was in Bangladesh long ago. However, they lived in the Barind Tract side of Rajshahi. During the floods of the last two-one years, it has been washed away by the river water and spread to different districts. However, this snake is mainly seen in the Padma River. They mainly move through rivers. The river is within 1-1.5 kilometers. They don’t go beyond that.
Raju Ahmed said that many people are deliberately sharing wrong information on social media. In fact, the Russell’s Viper has not been seen or will be seen anywhere else except near the Padma River.
“Our organization has 200 trained rescuer volunteer members. They are working to save snakes from different parts of Bangladesh and provide security to people’s lives,” he added.
