The case was filed at Dhanmondi Police Station, accusing 300 to 350 unidentified people. The station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam confirmed the matter to Journalists today (21 December).
Additionally, Chhayanaut General Secretary Laisa Ahmed Lisa told journalists that the case was filed in the early hours yesterday and the accused were unnamed.
Two days ago (19 December), a group of agitated protesters vandalised the cultural institution’s building as unrest over the death of Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Hadi escalated and resulted in vandalisms and acts of public unrest throughout the nation.
That day, while the vandalism was taking place, Shah Mostafa Tariquzzaman, assistant commissioner of police (Dhanmondi zone), told journalists that “The incident took place around 1:30am when a group arrived at the Chhayanaut building in Dhanmondi and carried out vandalism inside the premises.”
“The protesters also set fire [on scraps] on the road in front of the building,” he added.
