Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin has held a meeting with the chiefs of the three armed forces to review the overall law-and-order situation in the country ahead of the 13th parliamentary election and the upcoming referendum.
The meeting began at 12:00pm on Sunday at the Election Commission office.
Present at the meeting were Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hasan, and Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, along with the election commissioners.
Later at 2:30pm, a high-level meeting on law and order is scheduled to be held at the Election Building. The meeting will be chaired by CEC Nasir Uddin and attended by the four election commissioners and the EC Secretary.
In view of the 13th parliamentary election and the referendum, a decision has been taken to deploy law-enforcement agencies for five days before and after the vote. Accordingly, security forces will remain deployed from 9 February, ahead of the election, through 13 February, the day after polling.
