Celebrating 40 years of diplomatic relations between BD and Brunei

A Heritage Textile Exhibition was inaugurated on Tuesday (2 July) at the Malay Technology Museum to celebrate the 40 years diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and Brunei.

Bangladesh High Commission in Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Department of Museums organised the exhibition.

Pengiran Amir Rizal, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports graced the opening as Guest of Honor, said a press release.

Heritage Bangladeshi textiles are displayed at the exhibition. World famous Jamdani, embroidered and hand painted sarees added color to the museum.

In her speech the Bangladesh High Commissioner Nahida Rahman Shumona, paid rich tribute to the father of the nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

She conveyed gratitude to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, the Sultan of Brunei, for the gracious hospitality offered to the Bangladeshi community in Brunei and mentioned the warm friendship between His Majesty and the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh.

The High Commissioner also donated four vintage sarees to the museum – Jamdani, Manipuri, Raw Silk and traditional cotton.

The attendees were treated with Bangladeshi food.
