Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has said changes are being made in various institutions as part of the new government’s priorities.
Responding to questions from journalists in front of his office at the Secretariat today, he said, “Changes haven’t been made only in Bangladesh Bank; changes have taken place in many other places as well.”
He added, “The new government has its priorities. Where necessary, changes will be made to ensure implementation in alignment with the government’s programmes, preparation, thinking, and plans. It’s not only Bangladesh Bank — changes have occurred in many areas, and more may follow if needed. This is a very normal matter.”
Earlier in the day, the government appointed Md Mostaqur Rahman as the new governor of Bangladesh Bank. A notification in this regard was issued around 3:30 pm by the Financial Institutions Division (FID) of the Ministry of Finance.
