BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, undergoing treatment at The London Clinic in the UK, has shown signs of improvement despite her full treatment plan not yet beginning, reports The Daily Dazzling Dawn.

Her physician Dr AZM Zahid Hossain shared the latest updates with reporters on Saturday evening in front of the specialized hospital, where Khaleda Zia is under the care of renowned liver specialist Professor John Patrick Kennedy.

Dr Zahid noted that Khaleda Zia is currently receiving physiotherapy and has been attended by a nephrologist, cardiologist, and intensivist.

“Her condition is now stable, and mentally she is doing better thanks to the presence of family members. It may take a few more days of treatment to provide a clearer picture of her overall health,” Dr Zahid said.

Khaleda Zia’s family has been actively involved in her care. BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman, his wife Dr Zubaida Rahman, Arafat Rahman Koko’s widow Syeda Shamayla Rahman, and Khaleda Zia’s three granddaughters are frequently present at the hospital.

Dr Zahid emphasized that this familial support has significantly improved Khaleda Zia’s mental health.

While her health condition has improved since her arrival in London, a decision regarding a potential liver transplant remains pending.

“Doctors are still analyzing her test results. Whether to proceed with a liver transplant, attempt a medication-based treatment, or even the location of the transplant — London or the US — has yet to be finalized,” said sources from the UK BNP.

Joint General Secretary of UK BNP Khasruzzaman Khasru, quoting Dr Zahid, reiterated that Khaleda Zia is in better condition than when she arrived.

During a visit to the hospital, local journalists attempted to speak with Tarique Rahman about his mother’s treatment, but he declined to comment.

As of now, doctors are continuing to monitor Khaleda Zia closely, with more updates expected once further test results are available.
