Chickens were distributed among small ethnic groups of people in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj district on Wednesday morning.
Md. Humayun Kabir, UNO of Raiganj distributed the chickens to the indigenous community.
Under the Integrated Livestock Development Project aimed to socio-economic development and improve the quality of life for the backward small ethnic groups living in the plain lands, some 20 chickens were distributed among each of the 500 small ethnic families in the upazila.
The programme was organized by the Raiganj Upazila Livestock Department and Veterinary Hospital. Upazila Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Amir Hamza, Upazila Agriculture Officer Abdur Rouf, Senior Upazila Fisheries Officer Shariful Islam, Social Service Officer Ilias Hasan Sheikh and members of the beneficiary families were also present in the event.
