Expressing concern about social media, Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan remarked that social media has become a dangerous business.
“Husband-wife quarrels now also come to Facebook. Saying something again raises the question of rights to freedom,” he commented during the hearing of a contempt of court case involving seven top lawyers of BNP on Thursday.
Advocate Zainul Abedin and Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon represented the BNP leaders in court.
When pro-BNP lawyers accused the media of distorting their statements, the chief justice responded: “There is no fault of the media. What the media will give or not is up to them.”
The court has postponed the order date for the seven top lawyers of BNP in the contempt of court case for holding a press conference and rally against two judges of the Appellate Division by two weeks.
